Phil Bennetts film composer


In 2007, Phil was runner up in Sibelius' National Young Film Composer Competition and has subsequently composed for 8 films (including The Body, 2010 and Impetuous, 2012) and 3 music theatre shows as well as various production music albums, with syncs including BBC's The One Show (5 million viewers). In 2014, Phil was one of the winners of the Oticons International Film Composer Competition as judged by a panel including 4 oscar winning composers, and was then asked to compose for Hollywood Elite: Sound Has Evolved.

In 2015, Phil moved into Electronic Dance Music, signing with Muscox Records. Debut release Radiator, co-written with Alistair Albrecht, reached number 3 in Beatport's Release Chart during July 2015. Subsequent releases under the name Oxen Butcher include EPs Love and Happiness, One and Walking On The Sun, with the title track of the latter being included by Tiësto in his Club Life series.

Additionally, Phil is an experienced classical pianist, having given recitals internationally, notably at Imagines II academic conference at the University of Barcelona, as well as performing at Highgrove, the Cotswold royal residence. Previously, Phil played with rock band Welcome To Marathon performing at British music festivals and on BBC Radio. Phil has a BA in Music from the University of Bristol.
